Special EducationTake online courses to continue your education from your home! There are many people today whose children require special education to assist them with educational and behavioral issues. In the past, children with learning differences were forced to go to school with other children and to stay behind. Nowadays, there are many types of special education to treat the mildest to the most pronounced learning differences. With new discoveries in child development, learning differences and educational methods to aid children in their growth, it is getting less difficult to deal with these problems than it was in the past, and many parents with special needs children find the support they need among special education teachers and other parents who are in the same situation. While it is obvious that a child who is born with Down’s syndrome will need special education, other children who need special assistance may seem like other children until a certain age. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell whether a child needs special education or can cope with the regular school system. For instance, a child may have a speech delay that might simply be because his parents speak two different languages in the home or that he or she has a natural but inexplicable delay in speech. However, a child with a speech delay may have a more complex problem such as autism or aphasia. It may be difficult at the age of two to determine what issue a child has, and sometimes problems requiring special education only become apparent much later on. When many people think of special education, they think in terms of full-time special education which requires putting the child on a different track or in a special school. However, special education may apply to a few subject areas, such as reading, which the child needs extra help in, and a child may be able to spend the rest of the school day in regular classes. |
