Scuba diving schools can give you the certification you need. The certification will show that you are recognized by the scuba association as a diver that is trained to dive responsibly and safely. You should know that people who show up at a scuba diving shop to rent equipment or book a charted dive will be asked to show their scuba certification cards. Everyone who attends and graduates from scuba diving schools will have one. The reason behind shops requiring that you show proof of certification is because they want you to be safe. It can greatly jeopardize the safety of the entire charted diving party to have a diver who does not know the basics of scuba diving. People who have attended scuba diving schools and have certification are allowed to rent equipment or book charted dives. Why? Well, the shop owners know that you have been trained in underwater exploration and that you know how to react in a plethora of underwater situations. The two most common certification courses offered at scuba diving schools will be the PADI Scuba Diver certification and the NAUI Scuba Diver certification. Both of these courses will have you ready to go on a real scuba dive. Of the two programs, the PADI program is the most ideal for someone on vacation who simply wants to go on a few supervised dives while on holiday. The NAUI program is for divers who are still beginners, but who want to dive more often as a recreational sport. This program is a bit heavier than the PADI program. The great thing about scuba diving schools is that you will be placed with a group of individuals who have the same skill level in diving as you do. If you are a beginner you will be placed with beginners. This takes a lot of pressure off of an individual. Knowing that you will not be expected to know something already, or that you will not be placed in a diving pool with more experienced people can go a long way in calming nerves. Scuba diving schools are open to any age group. You are never too young or too old to learn how to scuba dive. The instructors at scuba diving schools welcome beginners of all ages into the diving pool. They truly look forward to introducing people to the underwater world.
