School Supply ListGet a college degree in your free time! The new school year involves more than students adjusting to a new classroom, teacher, and schedule. It also involves students getting back into the routine of learning and completing coursework. To prepare for school, parents typically take their children school shopping for new outfits and supplies. However, before parents invest in supplies, it helps to wait until the teacher sends home a recommended school supply list. School supplies are necessary for students to complete certain assignments. For the most part, schools operate on a limited budget. Hence, it is impossible for the school or teacher to provide school supplies for each individual student. Therefore, parental cooperation is vital. After teachers forward home a school supply list, parents can purchase the items from local stores. A school supply list will vary depending on the child’s grade level. Naturally, lower grade children will require fewer supplies. For example, a school supply list for a kindergarten class may include glue stick, crayons, pencils, tissues, supply box, pencils, and scissors. Parents can pack the necessary supplies in their children’s backpack. Another option involves the child keeping the items at school. Some classrooms come equipped with individual storage bins or lockers for each child. Thus, school supplies can safely remain in the classroom. A school supply list for Grade K – 3 will likely include the above supplies. Once a child enters an upper elementary grade level, he or she is expected to provide additional supplies. This might include a composition notebook, loose-leaf paper, ruler, index cards, protractor, highlighters, and pens. Again, teachers will inform parents of the necessary supplies within the first couple of days of the school year. Some schools provide local retail and office supply stores with a recommended school supply list for each grade level prior to the first day of school. This allows parents to get a head start and purchase items before the school year begins. |
