School FundraisersOnline courses are availible in almost every subject you could imagine!School fundraisers – every school has them and most parents hate them. Parents usually harbor a great disdain for school fundraisers because it is more work on their part than for their children. No one really enjoys hitting up friends and family members to buy magazines, wrapping paper, candy bars, and other various sundries that no one needs. Yet school fundraisers really are a necessary evil. Without them, many schools’ PTA, PTO, or other special organizations could not function. It is important to understand the role that school fundraisers play in your children’s school. Many parents are simply too busy with work and extra-curricular activities to read up on all the special programs that might go on at their children’s schools. However, if you think about the events that occur throughout the year, you must realize there are some that are not funded by the school alone. Your child’s school family night, carnival, school picnic, social, and clubs are probably paid for by the PTA, PTO or other volunteer organization. Before you discredit your children’s school fundraisers, try to determine how the money will ultimately be spent. The school principal or PTA/PTO president should be able to provide you with this information quickly when asked. If you have reason to doubt the money will be put to good use, you need to talk to your child’s principal. Many parents are disgruntled because of assemblies given to kick off school fundraisers that entice their children with the promise of earning fabulous prizes for participating. It’s true that the fundraising company is hoping for high sales because they also make money, but there are ways for parents to deal with this. If you can not thwart your child from participating, then place the biggest responsibility on them. They must be responsible for calling friends and family and asking them to purchase their goods. Explain your workplace policy to your children and why you can or cannot take the fundraiser to the office. Once kids realize how much work is involved, the magnetic magic decoder pen or feather boa scented bracelet may not seem like the greatest prize anymore. If you absolutely cannot or will not participate in your children’s school fundraisers, consider making a cash donation in place of participation. It’s true your child won’t earn any prizes, but your school’s organization will certainly appreciate the support just the same. |
