School FightsYou can get an associates, bachelors or even a masters degree completely online!Education is very important and all across the country there are dedicated teachers and school administration that are doing their best to make sure America’s children receive a great education. This task has become difficult in recent years with the rise of school fights and other school violence. Violence in schools has become a growing problem in schools across America and many school officials are looking for ways to reduce the violence that occurs in our schools. Some parents are guilty of turning a blind eye to fights and even encouraging children to fight in school, but it is important that parents, students, and everyone involved understand how dangerous school fights can really be. Often fights start out as verbal disagreements or even as incidents of bullying. Many times these verbal disagreements are the first signs of things to come and they need to be nipped in the bud before they get out of hand. It is important that teachers not turn a blind eye to verbal fights, even if there is no physical contact because they can escalate. Parents need to stand behind teachers and reprimand children that get in trouble at school for being in verbal fights. There are many reasons that a verbal fight may occur and they can be simple things such as fights over friends or grades, or they may be about more serious issues such as drugs. Teachers and parents need to realize that verbal fights can be emotionally damaging to teens and these types of fights should not be let go unpunished. Often school fights tend to escalate quickly from verbal disagreements to fights that involve physical measures. Often fights involve punching, kicking, hair pulling, and slapping. While this may look cute in young children it is important that it is stopped immediately. No matter how young children are they need to learn that violence is not a way to settle things and that fighting is not an appropriate choice. Physical fights that occur in older children may actually lead to physical harm so it is important that this kind of behavior is stopped immediately. Unfortunately fights have escalated in our schools today even beyond the fists. Today often fights are ending in violence that includes weapons. Today the news is filled with occurrences of knives and guns being brought to school to settle disputes. Sadly fights that escalate to this level often end up with a child being killed, which is the height of tragedy. It is important that measures are taken to prevent fights from escalating to this level and to make sure that weapons do not end up in schools. It seems that there is a cycle that seems to occur that brings about violence. Often fights are starting out as verbal altercations but measures are not being taken to stop them at this level. It is important that school fights are stopped before they get out of hand. Getting parents and students involved is a great way to help stop the violence in schools. Parents need to work to discourage children from turning to violence and ensure that they do not have access to weapons. Students need to be aware that they can talk to school officials about fights and incidents of bullying that occur. It is important that everyone works together to help prevent school fights from happening and escalating to tragic school violence. |
