Physical EducationEven Physical Education can be taught by an online college! With a large number of children in the United States obese and out of shape, physical education has never become more essential for a child’s healthy development. Physical education helps a child to value exercise and eating right, and gym class is not just about playing volleyball, but about building good habits that will last a lifetime. Physical education classes have become more innovative in recent years, since many teachers are interested in tackling weight problems in kids head on and intensifying workouts and educating children about the dangers of eating excessive fat and sugar. Physical education stresses positive aspects of staying fit, but it is no longer all fun and games, but an essential component of a child’s learning. One of the original reasons for the development of physical education classes is that children cannot sit and learn all day and need a break, some air and exercise. It has been proven that students and workers perform better at intellectual tasks if they exercise for at least a half an hour a day, because the aerobic component increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. Exercise can help sleep problems, boost immunity, counter depression and give one a general sense of well-being. Practicing sports also promotes team work and enables a child to learn how to get along with others and work together on projects. This ability is essential in most work environments which require co-workers to complement each other in order to complete tasks Physical education usually takes place in the middle of the day so kids can have a break from studying and get some needed exercise. The classes usually begin with stretching and exercises then games. Sometimes there are competitions and matches. A physical education teacher varies the activities depending on the time of year and softball might be a spring pursuit whereas basketball may be on the curriculum of physical education classes in the winter. |
