Learn to Read Music

Everyone who knows how to sing or play an instrument had to start somewhere. Musicians and singers had to take this step in order to learn to read music. Anyone can learn how to successfully read each beat and note on a music sheet, but first you need to find out how you are going to learn how to do it. Some places to learn are music theory books. You can start in the beginning stages and these books are very self explanatory.

Each note on the music sheet has a name. It will be your job to learn each letter of each note and it is fairly easy to learn. Basically it is no more than learning the alphabet itself. Learn to read music also consist of learning how many beats a note gets. For example a whole note will get 4 beats and a quarter notes only gets one beat etc. You will also get to learn about the rest notes and how long you will be required to hold a rest too. Basically learning how to read music is like reading a map, but once you finally learn everything it becomes a little easier to understand.

Other great places to learn to read music is in a beginning chorus classes, or from a teacher that gives private lessons. Some people also use online flash cards and if you have a computer this might work out well for you too. No matter which way you decide to learn, it is still going to take dedication on your part to learn everything. Remember that when you learn to read music, you must remain positive. Once you stick with it, you will be able to sing or play every note on a sheet of music without any hesitation.
