Learn French

French is a very beautiful and very old language that has been around for many years. Originating from the Latin language like many others it was first recognized as a language around 813AD. French became widely spread around the world as the French people conquered various places around the globe. Colonization and exploration both contributed to the spreading of this language in a variety of places. While French was a very important language in the past, it is still a very important and widely spoken language today and those who do not know the language will benefit greatly from taking the time to learn French.

There are a variety of reasons that one should take the time to learn French and one of those reasons is that the language is so widely spoken across the globe. There are actually 33 countries that recognize French as their official language and many other countries that have French as a secondary language. It is estimated that over 200 million people in the world can write, speak, or read the French language. With so many people that speak this language it can be a language that is worth learning.

Another reason that French is an important language to learn is that it is one of the languages of diplomacy. Along with English, French is the working language of many diplomatic and global associations. The United Nations actually recognizes French along with English as official working languages, as do NATO and UNESCO. The Olympic committee uses French as the official language as does the Universal Postal Union and the International Red Cross. With so many important international organizations speaking French it may be a great idea to go ahead and learn French so you can understand international affairs in a better way than before.

There are a variety of career opportunities that would require to you learn French as well. If you want to take part in a career in international business it will be imperative that you learn French if you want to be successful and marketable. If you want a job in tourism or travel you may find learning French to be beneficial as well. There are also many jobs for teachers and translators that can speak both French and English, and often these are jobs that are very well paying. If you are interested in being a diplomat you also may need to learn the French language as well. Learning French will open up many doors for a variety of careers.

Since French is so widely spoken and there are so many benefits to learning French why not make the effort to learn this beautiful language. You can learn this language by taking classes at a local college or university, or you may choose to take online classes to learn French. For busy professionals, learning French online might be the way to go. No matter what method you choose to learn French, you will undoubtedly be glad you took the time to learn this language and will be able to benefit from being bilingual.
