Law SchoolTaking courses from an online law school can help you get a legal job!Choosing law school is a commitment of both time and money. In the United States, law school typically requires a four-year under graduate degree in general, pre-law course study followed by a three-year graduate degree. The extended education required understandably increases the financial requirements involved in obtaining a law degree. Law schools in the US are typically hosted by larger post-secondary schools, but operate separately from the hosting school itself. Any law school of the hundreds of public and private schools available in the US will have varying requirements for admission. Typically, stellar performances on tests and an above-average grade point average (GPA) during pre-law study will be requirements for admission, though pre-admission testing holds some merit as well. Students who successfully complete law school are eligible to sit for the bar exam, which awards them license to practice law in their state, but usually only if the law school they completed is accredited by that individual state bar. An exception to the rule is California’s state examination bar who is the only state to currently allow students from other schools to sit the exam. They also allow students who graduate from an online law school to sit the exam. Many states will subsequently allow a person who has passed the California bar to sit their own bar exam after an individual has practiced law in California for a minimum time frame. Law school curriculum covers many areas of law and a great deal of the study of law is spent researching. Most law school students will have to spend a period of time in a clerkship and may do so unpaid. Whether environmental law or business law, many final-year law students will have a good idea what area of law they wish to practice upon passing the bar exam. The average debt of graduates completing law school in the United States is approximately $75,000 US Dollars (USD). Analysts are concerned that the tuition costs for law school have risen at a much greater rate than entry level salaries for most law firms. Competition for new graduates in large firms is so fierce that many new graduates take lower paying jobs that can not keep up with their student loan repayments. The overall career outlook for graduates from law school is average. Though the competition at large, high-paying firms is fierce, there are many jobs as house attorneys for businesses, corporations, and also in the government sector. Financial aid and scholarships remain viable for law school tuition, but complete tuition waiver is rare. |
