Department of Education

Getting an education degree can be accomplished from home on your computer!

The Department of Education was founded in 1980 to ensure that there is equal educational opportunity for all. Although public schools had been around for a long time by that point, it was decided that a special body was needed to iron out issues with education. Although states have a good deal of authority in determining how revenues for education will be spent and what educational standards will be for that state. However, the Department of Education looks into more general matters and ensures that schools maintain a standard of educational excellence which is available to every student, regardless of background, race or religion.

With the increase of immigration, the Department of Education is concerned nowadays with developing programs that will enable new immigrants to pick up the language efficiently and to integrate into the system. The Department of education will lead immigrants to special programs which might help them learn the language and adjust to the American school system.

The Department of education is also concerned with collecting and analyzing data about schools and works on the principle that the schools needs should be met according the requirements of that particular state or community. Some states may have issues with literacy while others need financial assistance. The Department of Education provided what is required by individual institutions.

Safety has been a major concern for the Department of Education, especially in the wake of school shooting and other violent incidents. School is no longer assumed to be a safe place for kids, and the Department of Education is considering the requirement to install metal detectors in every school to prevent students and intruders from coming with weapons. It is the job of the Department of Education to decide whether this step is necessary as well as providing the means for schools to fulfill these requirements if they need funds. The Department of Education often gives grants to schools for other reasons and decides which programs require government funding and which can be supported on their own.
