Aviation School

Get a college degree from the comfort of your own house!

If your career goals include learning how to fly an airplane, an aviation school is perfect. Many community colleges and technical schools offer flight training. In most cases, students complete the first half of instruction in a classroom. Hence, aviation training is available at local colleges. However, once a student is eligible for certification, he or she must complete training with a flight instructor or enter an aviation school. Aviation programs vary. On average, a student can complete flight training within a couple of years.

Students have to determine their flying goals before applying to a school. Are you seeking a pilot’s license for recreation? If so, you can benefit from small craft training with a private instructor. On the contrary, if your plans include flying a large passenger airliner, this requires extensive education.

Choosing a flight training school involves careful research, and students must consider several factors. What is the cost of aviation school? Tuition varies from school-to-school. Thus, it is practical to obtain quotes from multiple schools. There are two training levels, FAA and CAA. Students have to decide which type of training they want, and choose a school accordingly. Even if a student receives a price quote, this is just an estimation. Therefore, the actual cost may be more or less. Once an aviation school is chosen, and students receive a quote, the next step involves securing financing.

Since there is a wide range of financing options, there is a loan designed for each student. Meeting the expense of flight training can come from bank loans, student loans, grants, scholarships, and so forth. In some cases, students may have to arrange financing from multiple sources. This ensures a student’s ability to complete training. Moreover, students should visit several different aviation schools, speak with instructors, and ask to observe a class. Most schools allow on-campus tours, and are willing to address concerns from potential students. Some aviation schools have a high instructor to student ratio. In other words, there may be twenty or more students per classroom. If looking for individualized attention or a small classroom setting, consider hiring a private instructor or choosing a flight school with fewer enrollees per class.

It helps to make a list of different flight schools in the area. Are you willing to relocate or attend a flight school outside your surrounding area? If consider, make note of flight schools in other states. You can research the flight schools online, or request print information from the different schools. Compare school requirements, coursework, training, etc. Consider how long the school has been in business. What is the school’s reputation? Which kinds of aircrafts are used for training? Does the school offer financing, on-campus housing, and so forth? Sadly, some students make their final decision based on information printed in school catalogs or brochures. This is a bad way to choose a flight school.  Even if an aviation school is located out-of-state, make a special effort to visit the facility and speak with an admission’s specialist to have all your questions answered.
